Introduction :- India is a land of festivals, here many religious festivals are celebrated . Among them, I like Deepawali the most. It is also called a festival of lights and is celebrated throughout the country.
Time of Celebration :- Deepawali is celebrated in the month of Kartik ( generally in October or November ). according to Hindu calendar on the night of Amavasya.
Legends Behind It :- It believed that on this day Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya with Sita and Laxman after 14 years of exile. So, people welcome them by lighting diyas.
How Diwali is Celebrated :- Deepawali is celebrated with great preparations. Houses are cleaned and decorated. People wear new clothes and prepare sweets and snacks either at home or buy from market. On the Deepawali night, people worship Goddess Laxmi and God Ganesh and the whole house gets illuminated by lighting diyas and candles. Darkness is removed through lighting of diyas and lights. Children burst fire crackers.

Introduction :- Diwali is a very important festival of the Hindus. It is celebrated throughout the country with great pomp and show. Deepawali in Hindi is combination of two words Deep + Avali. It means Avali of Deeps or rows of lamps. Hence, this festival is known as the festival of lights.
When and why is it celebrated? :- It is celebrated in the month of Kartika on the Amavasya day. Some people believe that Shri Ramchandraji returned to Ayodhya after killing Ravana on this day. Some believe that Lord Krishna killed the demon Narkasur. The Jains believe that Lord Mahavira got salvation on this day.
How I celebrated Diwali this year? :- This year, I celebrated Diwali with great joy. I cleaned my house well, dusted all the articles and got the house whitewashed . Then I decorated it with balloons, beautiful pictures and paper flowers. At about eight o’clock in the night I worshipped Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. I lit the candles and burst fire crackers too.
